3D DESIGN
We offer a range of design services that can be tailored to your needs. Whether you are looking for inspiration and advice, a revamp of your existing planting or a complete transformation of your garden, we are more than happy to help and advise you on the services you may need. The full garden design service outlined above will guide you through the design and build process – from inspiration to implementation!
Step one: Consultation meeting
our consultation meeting is the time to discuss exciting ideas which will form the basis of the design brief and to discuss your budget.
During the meeting I will listen carefully to your ideas and together we will explore how you would like to use your garden and the particular style or feel you would like to create. If you have any images of gardens, textures or planting styles that you would like considered in the design, now is the perfect time to show me. I will bring along my portfolio and explain the garden design process to you, so you have a full understanding of the different stages involved.
we walk around your garden and assess it from a design perspective – looking at the possibilities and limitations of the site, considering the views, aspect, levels, soil structure and access. Following the meeting I will draw up a brief for the design of the garden based on our discussions along with a quote for the design services require.
Step two: Survey
A site survey and analysis is necessary to produce a scaled plan of your garden and to record all of the relevant information to consider in the design.
The survey and site analysis consists of:
• Measuring the site, building(s), access points, windows and ground levels.
• Noting the particular characteristics of the entrance area: the setting, the soil type, drainage, aspect, views, existing plants, drains and manhole covers, local building materials and styles.
• Assessing whether any views could be enhanced or obscured.
• Photographing and sketching the site.
If the site is complex I would recommend that a firm of surveyors undertake this aspect of the work.
Step three: Presentation plan
The Presentation Plan is a 2D scaled drawing of the proposed layout for your garden, showing areas of hard landscaping, planting and features. The garden design render will combine the aesthetic and practical considerations outlined in the brief to enhance enjoyment of your outside space.
To help you visualize your new garden, 3D landscape models or views of your garden from different angles can be created using Vector works.
Step four: Garden Construction and detailed drawings
Construction
we are trusted and professional landscapers, lighting and water feature specialists who will provide quotes for the construction of the garden.
Setting Out & Landscape Construction Drawings
To ensure that the design is set out and built exactly as planned, I can prepare accurate setting out drawings and detailed construction drawings for the contractors to follow using a computer aided design .
Step 5: Planting plans and planting
A planting scheme will be designed to suit the particular growing conditions of your garden, to complement the design, provide interest throughout the year and create the overall ambiance you desire.
I have a wealth of experience designing attractive planting schemes for different soil types and situations – ranging from heavy clay to free draining, sandy coastal conditions and from formal gardens to naturalistic plantings.
A planting plan will be prepared showing the position of each plant, its species and cultivar name as well as the quantity required. A plant schedule detailing the quantity, botanical name and size of plants required .Once the plants have arrived on site I can set them out and arrange planting for you.
